“Patek Philippe Nautilus”: everything you need to know!

When we talk about Patek Philippe, there is always more than meets the eye. For example, on the surface, the brand advocates simplicity, while most of its timepieces feature technologically advanced complications. But as I said, there is much more that is less known. Many Patek Philippe watches remain excellent investment options. What we are talking about here is the well-known-"Patek Philippe Nautilus". replica Patek Philippe Nautilus Watches

The history of the mythical "Nautilus"
Surprisingly, the history of the Patek Philippe Nautilus is closely tied to another iconic watch, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. The creation of the latter brought about a revolution in stainless steel luxury watches.

Patek Philippe soon developed a premium sports watch with the finest finishes, and the Royal Oak series was a success. And, here comes the story. Who do you think is the designer of Patek Philippe's new products?

Gerald Genta, the father of the Royal Oak, himself designed the famous "Nautilus".

In a 2009 interview, Gerald Genta said that he created the main design for the watch in a restaurant where some people from Patek Philippe were sitting in another corner. He sat alone and asked the waiter to bring him a piece of paper because he wanted to design something. Soon, Nautilus was born, with Genta designing the image while watching people eat and drink at Patek Philippe!

Ultimately, the sketch he completed in 5 minutes changed the history of Patek Philippe.
The original "Nautilus" design
The design resembles a porthole. A sturdy patented back case, one-piece middle case, and four lateral screws secure the striking octagonal bezel to ensure water resistance. The eight sides of the bezel all form perfect arcs. This exquisite detail adds a lot of edge to the overall design of the watches replica high quality.

1. Original Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref.3700/1
1976
The original Patek Philippe Nautilus was introduced in 1976 and featured a black dial boldly accented by blue-toned horizontal marker bars. The dial features luminous hands and a date window at 3 o'clock. The tightly integrated bracelet with folding clasp enhances the character of the watch. Although the watch is not designed to be highly water-resistant, the wide lugs and lugs ensure this.

The stainless steel Nautilus Ref.3700/1 is also known as the "Jumbo" due to its large 42 mm size. In addition, the watch is very thin, with a height of approximately 7.60 mm. It is powered by the 28-255 C automatic movement.

FYI: Gerald Genta does not claim the credit of being the inventor of the Nautilus Swiss patent!

1978
In 1978, Patek Philippe launched a similar model, but this time with a ribbed white dial; however, in 2012, the luxury brand added a white-dialed Nautilus watch to its catalog.

in 1980
Good news for ladies, Patek Philippe has finally launched the Nautilus Ref.4700 specifically designed for women. A year later a smaller replacement for the Ref.3700/1 was created, the smaller 37.5 mm diameter Ref.3800/1A. Equipped with a central seconds hand and the new Caliber 335 SC movement, the Ref.3800/1A is a favorite among watch enthusiasts.

1998
Introduced in 1998, the Ref.3710/1A saw Patek Philippe add a slight complication to the small date. The black dial features bold Roman numerals and a power reserve indicator at 12 o'clock. The watch is powered by Caliber 330 SC and has a case diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 8 mm. Jacob & Co Astronomia

2005
The next model, the Ref.3712, was launched in 2005 and featured analog date, moon phase and power reserve indicators. Powering the watch is a gold micro-rotor powered by an automatic 240 PS movement, while a sapphire crystal showcases the movement. Unfortunately, the model was pulled from shelves just a year later.

year 2006
After more than 30 years, Patek Philippe brings fans a new and improved model Ref. 5711/1A, equipped with a 43 mm case and powered by the 324 SC movement. Perhaps, the Ref.5711/1A is Patek Philippe's most famous catalogue, with its three-part case and sapphire crystal that allows a clear view of the roofed movement.

Ref.5711/1A has a refined curvature to better synchronize with the bezel. It also enlarges the size of the screw-in crown. The model features a bold blue accent on the black dial, with the Patek Philippe logo printed in a new font near the hour markers at 12 o'clock.

In 2006, Patek Philippe also ushered in three new models. They are as follows:

First, the Ref. 5712 (successor to the 3712) introduced several changes to the dial, including an increase in blue tones, a change in the direction of the date numerals from 9 to 23, larger date and moon phase counters, slimmer hands, and four quartz counters. A small red dot indicates the power reserve.

Secondly, the Ref.5980 is equipped with a new automatic chronograph movement and is housed in a 44mm case.
Thirdly, the Ref.5800 is a thinner version of the Nautilus with a width of 38.4mm.

year 2010
The Nautilus Ref.5726 is another excellent watch launched in 2010, equipped with an annual calendar complication. This is the first stainless steel model from Patek Philippe to feature such a complication, powered by the caliber 324 S QA LU 24H.

Year 2014
At Baselworld 2014, Patek Philippe launched the Nautilus Ref. 5990/1A, also known as a travel time chronograph with a dual-time function and a column wheel flyback chronograph. The design of this watch has undergone significant changes. There are two pushers at 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock, and two more push-button correctors at 9 o'clock.

The dial retains the typical Nautilus look with a horizontal print. There are day/night indicators at 3 and 9 o'clock, showing local and home time. There are 2 sub-dials on the dial surface, and the golden hands and three-dimensional hour markers make the watch look gorgeous.

2016
To commemorate its 40th anniversary, Patek Philippe launches two new models:

2. Three-pin platinum Ref.5711/1P
Patek Philippe is releasing only 700 pieces of the Ref.5711/1P 40th Anniversary Limited Edition, crafted in 950 platinum. At 44mm wide, this model is twice as wide as the original at 40mm in diameter and 8.3mm tall. replica Grand Seiko Heritage

The dial of the Ref.5711/1P is a special anniversary edition and once again features the typical Nautilus horizontal embossing. It has a deep blue hue that fades from the inside out to complement the platinum tone.

3. Platinum flyback chronograph Ref.5796/1G
The Ref.5796/1G is a second anniversary model equipped with a self-winding flyback chronograph. Only 1,300 pieces will be produced in this limited edition Patek Philippe watch, which comes in a large case measuring 44 mm in diameter and 12.16 mm in height.

The watch has a larger design, with a larger display area for the chronograph counter at 6 o'clock. The three concentric scales of the single counter are minute counters 31-60 (inside), 1-30 (middle) and 12-hour counter (outside).

Overall, both watches feature a blue dial adorned with 12 appliqué white gold bars, with diamonds as hour markers and anniversary quotes.

2018
In 2018, Patek Philippe released one of its most prestigious models, the Ref.5740/1G-001 with a perpetual calendar complication. This model is commonly known as the Nautilus Perpetual Calendar. As Patek Philippe's slimmest creation, the watch has an 8.42 mm high case. Its structure features polished edges and bridges, and a sapphire crystal display allows the wearer to appreciate the beauty vividly.

Vertical satin-finished surfaces complete the design of the bezel, creating a pleasing contrast with the polished chamfers. The slightly raised dial is in the same rich blue hue as the Nautilus 40th Anniversary Edition, with horizontal markings (typical of Nautilus).

Three sub-dials are perfectly integrated into the slightly rounded octagon displayed on the dial:

Day of the week and 24-hour dial at 9 o'clock
Month and leap year cycles at 3 o'clock
Date and moon phase at 6 o'clock, showing moon phase (slightly larger than others)

2019
Having had enough of white and black dials, Patek Philippe has finally launched the Nautilus Ref.5726/1A Annual Calendar with a striking blue dial at Baselworld 2019. The horizontal embossing and subtle color gradient from blue to black are what watch enthusiasts consider the perfect contrast to the steel case. This watch has a 40.5mm case that is both sporty and stylish.

The dial displays the date, day of the week, month, moon phase and 24 hours. The dial offers excellent legibility both during the day and at night, thanks to the large minute and hour hands with luminous coating.

2021
start:
After much hype and craze, in 2021, Patek Philippe has decided to discontinue its most sought-after model, the Nautilus Ref.5711/1A in steel. But this watch certainly deserves a proper farewell, and Patek Philippe made sure of that. The Swiss brand launches the Nautilus Ref.5711/1A-014 with an olive green sunburst dial.

A new shade of olive green that has never appeared in Patek Philippe's catalog, the dial is accentuated by a unique sunburst finish that will instantly fascinate watch fanatics! The fresh green contrasts perfectly with the white gold luminous hour markers and hands. This model is equipped with a 40 mm * 8.3 mm case and is equipped with Caliber 26-330 SC movement. The sapphire crystal glass clearly shows the exquisite movement inside.

end:
To the delight of all watch collectors, Patek Philippe launched the Nautilus Ref.5711/1A-018 at the end of 2021. They produced a limited edition of just 170 pieces to celebrate the 170th anniversary of Patek Philippe's collaboration with Tiffany & Co. replica Porsche Design watches

Known as the Ref.5711/1A-018, this unique model is made of stainless steel and its main feature is a striking blue dial with the Tiffany logo. A few days after the launch, Patek Philippe sold all 170 units at 100% of the price at a New York watch auction hosted by Philips Watches.

So, now you don't know much about Patek Philippe, do you? If you look back at history (as mentioned above), you'll see that the Nautilus Ref.5711/1A has been in the spotlight throughout. Well, there are good reasons to support this.

The 7 factors that make Ref.5711/1A so valuable are:
1. Quality
It goes without saying that Patek Philippe's creations embody reputation and quality, both in design and function. As mentioned before, experts spend months or even years creating a typical Patek Philippe timepiece. The brand adheres to strict standard protocols, making every watch precious.

2. Reputation
The name "Patek Philippe" itself embodies sophistication, elegance and sophistication. Given its rich history and outstanding watch design, it's almost impossible not to recognize this watch from a distance.

3. Scarcity
Patek Philippe's production is strictly regulated. The brand reportedly produced around 50,000-70,000 watches at any given time (75% mechanical, 25% quartz). No specific models are available in volume. As a result, there is absolute scarcity on the market and people are willing to wait years to get one.

4. Versatility
You'd probably agree that if any luxury brand truly defines versatility, it's Patek Philippe, and specifically the Ref.5711/1A. Perfect with a suit, polo shirt or shorts to the beach! Although this watch has started its journey as a luxury sports watch, it has now diversified.

5. Noteworthy
The Ref.5711/1A really spawned the entire series, but also spawned Patek Philippe's most enjoyable creation to date (you know who). This will always be a watch worth noting for the brand, watch enthusiasts and watchmaking history.

6. Hype
The hype around the Ref.5711/1A in the replica watch store world is crazy! Not a Rolex or any other brand, but reports suggest that the Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref.5711 is indeed the most hyped watch. I guess that's another reason to pay attention!
